Over the years, I’ve taught grades 2, 3, 4, and 5 and I’m passionate about creating a supportive,
engaging environment where all students feel seen, heard, and empowered to grow. I believe
learning should be meaningful, hands-on, and full of curiosity. I’m here to help each student
discover their strengths and reach their potential. As a mom of 4 I understand how important it
is for parents and caregivers to build a bond with their child's teachers. I enjoy my partnerships
with families, and I look forward to our work together this year as our children strive for
success.

to get to know each of my students and their families as we learn and grow together. Together,
we will make this school year a wonderful experience for all!

1st Grade Teacher
’ve spent the past 15 years teaching at PS 243 The Weeksville School, growing alongside
students and watching neighborhood kids go from kindergarteners to teenagers—one of the
more rewarding (and occasionally surreal) parts of the job. At home, I’m the dad of two very,
very strong-willed daughters, Abigail (8) and Nola (6), who save their biggest questions for
bedtime. We have two standard poodles who are always happy to see me—and a wife who is
only sometimes. In quiet moments, I read nonfiction and watch scary movies with popcorn
(lightly salted, no butter).

Speech Language Pathologist
After teaching for 7.5 years (at Weeksville for 4 years), I’m excited to return in a new role as the
Pre-K Speech-Language Pathologist. My love for ELA as a student grew into a lifelong passion for
literacy and communication, which I now bring into my work with young learners. Outside of
school, I enjoy reading, writing, puzzles, musical theater, and traveling to explore new places.

School Counselor
Hi, my name is Ms. Rhoden and I'm the school counselor at P.S. 243 - The Weeksville School. I've
been a school counselor for 4 years. The best part of my job is getting to know the scholars on a
deeper level while helping them with their social-emotional needs. In my free time I enjoy binge
watching K-dramas, traveling and eating delicious food. If you spot me in the building assisting
scholars or helping out at a Weeksville event and would like to know more about school
counseling (or if you'd like a K-drama recommendation) - don't hesitate to ask!

5th Grade Teacher
My name is Mrs. Abdul-Karim. While I have been teaching for over 10 years, this is my
first year at Weeksville and I’m very excited to join this community. I am passionate
about providing our scholars with many opportunities to challenge their academic
growth and experience the joy of learning. I look forward to growing in excellence with
this community.

4th Grade Teacher
I’m Ms. McAllister, and this is my first-year teaching 4th grade at the Weeksville School.
I’ve been an educator for over 20 years, with most of my experience in Special
Education. I hold a Bachelor of Arts from Long Island University, a Master of Science in
Special Education from Hunter College, and completed post-graduate studies in School
Administration at the College of Saint Rose. Outside of school, I enjoy traveling and
spending time with my family. I’m excited to support our students as they learn, grow,
and develop their voices.

Gym Teacher
I was born and raised in Brooklyn, New York. I’m a product of the NYC public school
system. I attended Brooklyn College. I’m currently in my 10th year teaching at
Weeksville. My favorite subject in school was Physical Education.
